G. M. Malliet, DEATH OF A COZY WRITER

CAROL'S FAVORITE

G. M. Malliet won the Malice Domestic Grant for this "Book One of the St. Just Mystery Series." Millionaire cozy mystery writer Sir Adrian Beauclerk-Fisk is simply not a very nice person. His constantly changing will is rather like a Ferris wheel. Round and round it goes and where it stops is at whoever happens to be at the top - at that moment. He has now invited all his possible heirs and their significant others to his eighteenth century manor to attend his wedding to the lovely Violet Winthrop. As it turns out, they are already married. And, the widow Violet was once the accused murderer of her first husband many years ago. A few days after the clan gathers, Adrian's oldest son is killed and then Adrian himself. Chief Inspector St. Just has his hands full with this one. Good mystery, characters, descriptive phrases, and resolution. Malliet could have a great series on her hands.
